He opened the week with the only loss, which was 4-3 in overtime against the red hot Tampa Bay Lightning. He turned things around when he faced the New York Islanders on Feb 19, stopping 27 shots for a 3-1 victory. He then posted his very first career shutout against the Anaheim Ducks before capping off the week with a 2-1 victory versus the Los Angeles Kings. He finished the week with a 1.46 GAA, .941 SV%. Pavel has stepped up since Phillip Grubauer was sidelined to an injury, and improved his record to 16-5-3 with a 2.27 GAA and .927 SV%.
#2 - MIKA ZIBANEJAD, C, NYR
Zibanejad was this season's very first #1 NHL Star of the week (Oct 16) and has re-surfaced as this week's #2 Star of the Week. He tied the League lead with a total of 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists) to help the Rangers seal three victories and gain six possible points in the standings. The Rangers are now only four points shy of the second Wild Card position in the Eastern Conference. Mika exploded into the week by matching his career-high of 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) in the Ranger's victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. In his next game versus the Hurricanes, Mika posted 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and finished the week by scoring the game-tying goal, which eventually led to the Ranger's beating the San Jose Sharks on Feb 22. Zibanejad now has 60 points (28 goals, 32 assists) in 48 games played, which is an incredible 1.25 PPG average this season.
#3 - ANDREW MANGIAPANE, LW, CGY
Mangiapane is the NHL's #3 Star of the Week by totaling 6 points (5 goals, 1 assist) in 3 games played and led all skaters with the most goals. He was a major part in helping the Flames maintain their first Wild Card position in the Western Conference by helping them win 2 out of 3 games. He opened the week with a 4 point night (3 goals, 1 assist), which was his career-high and his first career hat trick. This was done over the Anaheim Ducks before being held off the scoresheet versus their 4-3 loss to the Boston Bruins. He finished the week with 2 goals, one which became the game-winner, against the Detroit Red Wings on Feb 23. He now sits at 27 points (15 goals, 12 assists) in 61 games played.
